Fiesta Season in Costa Rica runs from the end of November to June. Every weekend traditional small town fiestas feature bull riding, traditional foods and dance. On Sunday the highlight is the Horse Parade, in which horse enthusiasts from Guanacaste Cowboys, to residents and tourists, gather to ride their prized horses through town.
TENNIS & PICKLEBALL:
A tennis courts are available in Tamarindo, at 15-Love Tennis Club. You can rent court time and equipment for playing on two lighted outdoor courts. Open from 7am to 9pm. Pickleball is played at 15-Love, on Wednesday nights, from 6:00-8:00pm. Pickleball is also available most Saturday mornings at the Hacienda Pinilla Tennis Courts.
Spend the day learning the ancient art of pottery making, when you visit Guaitil village. Here you will be able to see how beautiful handcrafted pottery is made, using all natural ingredients, by the Chorotega Indians who still inhabit the village. Nearby is the city of Santa Cruz, where you can enjoy additional souvenir shopping and plenty of restaurants serving typical Costa Rican cuisine.
The closest (half hour drive) is the Monkey Park in Portegolpe. You may notice it on your drive to the house, from the Liberia Airport. The Monkey Park is a nonprofit foundation that works to preserve, rehabilitate, and when possible release back into the wild, the animals under its care. This is mainly for small children to observe the native animals up close. The Monkey Park animals are in cages. We highly recommend a Palo Verde Boat Tour, down hte Tempisque River in which you observe the animals in their native habitat. Animals you may see in Palo Verde include: scarlet macaws, porcupines, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, crocodiles, anteaters, parrots, toucans, owls, turtles, and a wide variety of birds. Another great option is Diamante Eco Adventure Park which has a large collection of rescue animals, a butterfly sanctuary, plus a zipline with ocean view, and a beach with SUPs and kayaks.
